Recommended Customer Message

We regret to inform you that this card is not available for use and cannot be used for this transaction. This may be because the card has been deactivated or has not yet been activated. Please contact your card issuer for further assistance.

Root Cause

  • Card permanently deactivated: The card has been deactivated by the issuer and is no longer valid for transactions.
  • Card replaced: A replacement card has been issued, and the old card was deactivated automatically.
  • Issuer-initiated deactivation: The issuing bank deactivated the card due to inactivity, account closure, or suspected fraud.
  • Expired card lifecycle: The card has reached the end of its lifecycle and is no longer usable.

Troubleshooting and Solutions

  • Ask the customer to contact their card issuer for further clarification and assistance.
  • Recommend using a different, active payment card to complete the transaction.
  • Advise the customer to check if they have received a replacement card from the issuer.
  • Do not retry the transaction with the deactivated card, as it will continue to fail.
  • Enable Account Updater at your payment gateway to automatically refresh expired or replaced card details and reduce transaction failures.
  • Ensure your system removes or flags deactivated cards to prevent future failed attempts.
